Priorities for Ward 6 Stittsville
Traffic & Transit — Action, not more studies
Year One: Request signal timing and turning-movement reviews at Ward 6's worst peak-hour intersections. Set a 10-business-day response standard for every traffic concern raised by a resident. Push OC Transpo for real reliability data on Ward 6 routes and report it publicly. Long-Term: Push for a public construction communications plan on every major road project. Advocate for better transit connections to where people actually work. Fight for transit service that works for people who have no other option — seniors, students, and families — with real evening, weekend, and winter reliability.
Safe & Liveable Neighbourhoods — Growth should strengthen our community, not outpace it
Year One: Push for practical, proven traffic calming near schools and crossings. Support pedestrian crosswalk upgrades where evidence shows they're needed most. Improve access to existing recreation programs by publishing real-time availability. Launch free fraud and online safety workshops for residents, starting with seniors. Long-Term: Protect Ward 6's natural and green spaces by requiring environmental and tree-canopy impact reviews before approval. Advocate for parks and recreation space to grow alongside new housing. Push road safety, crosswalk, and sidewalk investment into the City's base capital planning. Advocate for a more welcoming small-business community. Advocate for more police presence and mobile patrols in Ward 6.
Better Value for Your Tax Dollars — Accountability and transparency for every tax dollar
Year One: Measure Before We Spend — demand measurable outcomes before major spending, and public reporting on whether they were achieved. Put Underused Assets to Work — identify underused City-owned buildings, land and facilities in Ward 6 and push for better use or repurposing. Long-Term: Competitive Procurement — push for competitive tendering and regular review of major contracts instead of automatic renewals. Business Discipline in City Spending — push for stronger value-for-money standards across major contracts, purchases and capital projects. Every tax dollar deserves accountability, transparency and value.
Healthcare Access Close to Home — 40,000+ residents deserve care nearby
Year One: Make It Easier for Medical Practices to Open — advocate to reduce municipal barriers and improve City processes for healthcare practices opening in Stittsville. Advocate With Evidence — bring Ward 6's growth, healthcare needs and resident data to advocate to the Province. Long-Term: Include Mental Health Support — push for mental-health services to be part of the broader healthcare-access solution. Community Hubs — support community hubs that bring healthcare, recreation, social services and community supports together. Advocate to Deliver the Health Hub — advocate and hold the Province accountable for funding the proposed Kanata–Stittsville Primary Care Health Hub.
